I've been taking a bit of a breather this week. A little movie watching, a little shopping, and alot of sleeping. Now I'm feeling refreshed and ready to tackle some cleaning and organizing around the house. And maybe some sewing for myself. I have two tunics planned: kimono style, with the fabric cut on the bias for the best drape. They will be a very simple design using an extra large t-shirt as a template. I'm still considering the finishing. Bias edges are very tricky, as they tend to stretch. I could bind them, or leave them raw. That deconstructed look is everywhere these days. But while I appreciate the effect in store-bought garments, something about raw edges on a homemade garment sounds lazy and unfinished! We'll see.
Joann Fabrics is having a "Firefly Frenzy" sale this week. All the spring silkies and linens are 50-60% off. It's the perfect opportunity to expand my wardrobe.
And, since I don't have any pictures of my tunic project yet, I'll leave you with a vintage find from a few weeks ago:
It's an adorable tablecloth with a cross-stitched bird motif. There are a few stains, so it will be cut up and possibly find new life adorning some aprons!
Have a great Friday!
