Last weekend we ventured down into Virginia. I had wanted to see the mountains dressed with fall color, but the weather for the past several weekends has been dreary. Last Saturday was no exception, but we decided we had waited long enough.
First stop was Luray Caverns:
There was truly something to see from every angle.
Above you can see "Dream Lake", my favorite feature of the cave. It truly appears as though you are looking out onto a field of stalagmites, but it's an illusion. Just a reflection on the water of the stalactites on the ceiling.
After the cave, we took a drive through the Shenandoah National Park. It was a cloudy day, but that lead to some magical views from the mountain tops.
